With the battle between the heroes, Vlad Plasmius and the Metarex finally done, their original mission returned to top priority, and that was getting the mutated Mobians back to normal. The plan worked out so that a couple of the Master Four would take the crates of trapped mutants to Team JAG Headquarters with the cure information Rouge acquired, along with Danny’s friends and family, and an unconscious Vlad Masters. After Tails Phantom defused back to Tails and Danny, the latter left for headquarters as well as Tails wanted to take Cosmo and everyone from Mobius back home, especially seeing Blood in a critical state of illness, and did so with Jason providing a portal for them, and offering to take Kim, Ron and the Possibles back to Middleton. When all of them were acting out the plan, Ash was left having to handle Dr. Drakken and Shego, who were both where the blue-skinned scientist’s old lair’s self-destruction system was, and prepared for activation. The warrior found the two just standing there, and addressed them about this.
“So that’s what you’ve been up to this whole time, finding an ace up your sleeve,” Ash said. “Knowing you well enough, you knew better not to have it go off during all the fighting.”
“And that would probably be the best thing he’d ever have come to mind,” Shego said mockingly, but her boss took no notice this time.
“Believe me, Pokemon boy, I didn’t want to defeat my arch nemesis this easily today. Besides, after having to deal with everything Vlad had to put me through, and to base his work in one of MY lairs, it’s best to leave this place in dust,” Drakken said, explaining his true motives.
The warrior didn’t smile at first, but eventually did so, telling the Doctor “I know you were never entirely fond of working with us when you agreed to truce when we shared an enemy, but believe me, Drakken, when I say you’ve done a lot of good help for those who didn’t deserve being mistreated.”
“Thanks,” Drakken replied sarcastically. Being more serious, he turned to the controls and programmed the activation codes. “Now let’s get out of this place before this warehouse turns into an ice box.” He then hit the activation switch, and a countdown started down from twenty seconds.
“Dr. D., you couldn’t leave a little extra time for us to get out of this dump?” Shego asked. “Thirty seconds would’ve been nice, or sixty to take our time, but not twenty. It crunches too much time.”
“Then hold on tight,” Ash told them, and quickly grabbed both of them, using his speed to exit the warehouse layer of the lair through the hole where Tails and Ron crashed through the wall earlier on. When they got far enough out and up into the air, they watched Dr. Drakken’s old lair disappear behind a cloud of explosion’s dust and smoke, destroying it from top to bottom. He then told Kim’s arch foes “Come on, I’ll take you back home for a while before we need you and Eggman again,” and used instant transmission to take the two back to their main lair.
The moment that everyone from Mobius returned, the large group diverted apart in numerous ways, with Dr. Eggman and his robots returning to his base, Sonic and Shadow raced off in their own directions, Knuckles was ‘offered’ a lift to Angel Island by Rouge, and the rest stayed at Tails and Cosmo’s home where they found Earthia and Galaxina waiting outside for them in the late night. Tails immediately took Blood to the spare bedroom for her to lay down and rest, and Amy and Cream did whatever they could to aid the ailing Seedrian, with Chopper not leaving her bedside. He and Cosmo then began explaining events in Kim and Ron’s world, including Blood revealing her ghost powers Vlad had given her, and the sad news of Dark Oak’s return. Needless to say, revealing the most dangerous foe of their galaxy and dimension was very unsettling to Cosmo’s family.
“This is not good,” Earthia said in despair. “We thought we saw him destroyed before our very eyes, yet he still lives. It’s an ongoing nightmare without end.”
“How do we begin telling our people the Metarex have not been finished off as we believed? They’ll be devastated,” added an equally sad Galaxina.
“We’ll have to formally address this once the crisis is officially over, and the people of Mobius affected by the Brotherhood are cured. Until then, we only tell Lucas, the Council and the military,” Earthia said.
All Tails could do was sigh to himself as he stood beside Cosmo sitting in a chair, for he never approved keeping truths like this secret, but undoing what Vlad Plasmius had done was something that needed attention first. But both of them had a bigger worry, and that was Blood’s well-being. They didn’t know what they could do at the moment, and felt helpless towards a creation of Vlad’s that was more of a friend to everyone else.
“Why do so many events have to end like this? Someone in trouble or pain, it’s not fair to anyone,” Cosmo said, sounding depressed with worry.
Tails looked down at her saddened, and saw her sad face with tears forming in her eyes. He put his hand on her shoulder, to gently hold her tight for comfort. When she looked up towards him, tears began running down her face, but her voice turned silent. “We have to hope for the best, Cosmo. It’s all we can do right now, but I promise that if there’s anything possible to help, we’ll do whatever we can to help save her.”
With what hope they all could hold on to, she nodded and replied “I just hope there is something that can be done.”
“So does everyone else. She helped save Chopper, and Kim and Danny’s families. Like you were saying, she doesn’t deserve to suffer,” he told her.
Cream and Cheese then walked out from the hallway leading towards the bedrooms, setting a small medical bag on the table with hardly any bandaging or treatments left in it. The look on her face was sad, and she didn’t say anything until asked. “Is Blood alright?” asked Galaxina.
The young rabbit just bowed her head for a moment, then looked up and told them “We’re not sure. We’ve covered up any cuts or damages she had, but she wasn’t making a sound, only quietly breathing. Amy and I can only think that she could use some rest before we try anything more.”
“Where is Amy?” asked Cosmo.
“She’s trying to bring Chopper out so he can rest himself. That poor little boy will not budge from that bed,” Cream replied.
Tails and Cosmo looked at each other for a moment, and decided to go handle him themselves. They walked down the hall and saw Amy having a hard time getting him to leave, with her temper slipping out. Cosmo asked her to walk out and she did, but gave her friends a worried look about both the young chipmunk and Seedrian, and left quietly to join the others. The fox walked up to his young friend and kneeled down to his level to say “Come on, Chopper, you can’t be here all night. You need to sleep?”
“No I won’t,” an upset Chopper replied. “She looks so hurt and sad, and I can’t leave her alone. What if something else happens?”
“We don’t know if anything can happen right now. She’s too exhausted to do anything, and she should try to relax if that will help her feel better,” Tails told him, trying to make reason.
“Well I’m not leaving to make sure. She was there for us, so now I’m here for her,” the chipmunk said back, becoming stubborn.
“But Chopper,” Tails said, but found himself interrupted by Cosmo before saying anything more.
“Tails, don’t try,” she told him. “He wants to be loyal to someone he cares about. You know all about that as much as I do.” She then walked around to kneel down behind Chopper, putting her hands on his shoulders. “At least get something to eat, Chopper. I doubt you’ve eaten since we left here for Kim’s world. Do that, and I’ll get you a few things.”
He looked over at her, with saddened eyes to say “But I’m not hungry. I’m scared, and I don’t want to go. I don’t want to lose another person I care about.”
The couple knew they would hear something of the sort coming from him, and thought of his infected family back at Team JAG Headquarters. Knowing there was no way around it, Tails made a decision to keep the boy at least comfortable. “Alright, Chopper, you win. I’ll get you a chair to sit on and something to eat. Cosmo, would you please get a spare pillow and blanket from the closet?”
Seeing how he wasn’t going to force Chopper against his wishes with this, Cosmo smiled and replied “Of course. There should be a small veggie bowl and juice in the refrigerator he can have.” As they were about to get up to walk away, a familiar four-tone ring came from down the hall. Then they heard footsteps running up to the bedroom to get the couple.
“Tails, Cosmo,” said a confused Amy, “I’m not sure if this makes sense but your television is ringing.”
Both were confused and went out to investigate, promising Chopper they’d only be a moment. When they got back to the living room, they found everyone surrounding the television set that kept sounding the same ringtone, but there was nothing shown. Knowing where it came from, they knew it was a good sign, so Tails decided to turn on the screen to reveal Kim and Ron, connected interdimensionally by Wade through the wrist Kimmunicator.
“There you guys are. We were starting to worry that nobody was home or awake,” Kim said, and also noticed Cosmo’s family. “It’s good to see you again, Earthia and Galaxina.”
“And the same to you, Kim Possible,” Earthia replied.
“Why did you try to contact us so late? We thought you would be getting your rest after being taken back home,” Cosmo said.
“Well we were thinking about doing that, but after some family bonding we decided to check in with you guys,” Ron told them.
Kim then added “And we just wanted to say thank you to you who helped stop Vlad and Dark Oak from doing anything to our world, and for saving my family. If there’s anything we can do to repay this favor, please tell us.”
“Thanks, you guys, but you know that’s not important to us,” Tails said. “We did to help protect your world from trouble, and because we’re friends. You don’t need to repay us for working with you.” From what was a kind smile he had turned to a frown as he added “If only we knew what we could do for Blood right now other than wait and see.”
“Chopper holding up alright? Poor little dude looked broken inside when she got them all out of that cage. That whole thing was bound to mess him up,” Ron stated. Kim glared at him about his insensitivity, but it wasn’t as if she could disagree.
“We’ve tried whatever we could to wake her up or get her to respond but there was no use,” Amy told them.
Cream then added “She’s so tired that all she can do is gently breathe. We’re trying to think of what to do but we just don’t know.” Cheese then added a sad “Chao.”
“And because she is a clone of me, we’re worried that something might happen if we try something that will make her more unstable than how she could be now,” Cosmo said sadly. “Chopper refuses to leave her side and… Oh, I better take care of him.” Realizing the young chipmunk was promised a few things, she went off to get started, starting with the snacks and a chair from the kitchen.
“I guess we interrupted you guys as you were busy,” Kim observed, “so maybe we should let you go and get some rest. We’ll try coming by tomorrow to see how everything is, and if there’s anything we can do for you in return for helping us…”
Tails interrupted her by replying “It’s alright, Kim. To be honest, unless you have a cure for a Vlad project on hand then there isn’t much I can ask for right now.”
“But maybe I can help,” said another voice, and appearing in a split screen form was Wade under Kim and Ron. “Sorry to interrupt guys, but I couldn’t help overhearing.”
“You mean eavesdropping, don’t you? You’ve really got to stop tapping into some of these conversations or you’ll hear something that you’ll regret,” Ron said.
Wade just chose to move forward in conversation and say “Anyway, the Team JAG database just got the data Rouge got for Eggman. Looks like he went straight at work for antidotes when you guys got back. I got a notice on my computer about since I’m still connected with the network, and I found some files you’d like to see.”
“You mean help cure those of this world plagued by his work?” asked Galaxina, and Amy added “Or somebody else who may be able to help?”
“None of those, but it does have Blood’s entire DNA structure,” Wade explained, and showed everyone a stream of pictures and data. “She was one of Vlad’s clones, which means that her stability determines her life force. The problem is she’s pretty much drained nearly all of it, and unless she gets the right energy, both will shut down for good.”
Tails’s eyes opened wide with this news, stating “You mean she could die if we don’t do something now. I’m not going to let that happen. There must be something I’ve got that can help her.”
“We’ll all do what we can to help. Any suggestions, Wade?” Kim asked.
“Only one,” he answered. “Since Blood is a clone of Cosmo, and has enough Seedrian DNA to adapt to energy sources of various kinds, anything you have that can gently give her a life force should help enough.”
They all thought quickly of what they could do, but Tails was the one who had the surefire idea that could work. “The emerald healers from the Blue Typhoon,” he said, and immediately pulled out a Chaos Emerald. “We used them to heal us between fights with the Metarex. If I can just get one of those up here,…” and as he was talking, he used instant transmission to take him into the Blue Typhoon and retrieve the device. At that time, Cosmo had returned from tending to Chopper to see her love disappear.
“What’s going on? I heard Tails say something about healing and then I saw him leave,” she stated.
“Don’t worry about him. I think he’s come up with a way to help Blood out, thanks to Wade,” Kim replied.
“All in a night’s work. Better make sure to thank Eggman and Rouge next time you see them or that data wouldn’t be here to help,” said the super genius. Then, a long and loud yawn came from the Kimmunicator, being made by a tired Ron.
He then said “Well, alright, now that everyone seems cool and the Mobians will be cured soon, I’m thinking of hitting the bed for a long night of nice dreams and Nacos. What do you say, KP?”
“You’ve read my mind, Ron,” she replied sarcastically. She then told the others “Alright, everyone, I guess we’re off to bed, so we’ll see you tomorrow. And thanks again for everything.”
“You’re welcome,” Cosmo said in return, “and thank you for everything you’ve done to help us as well. You all have a good night.”
“Will do,” said Wade, and Kim and Ron said together “Good night,” and the communication was cut off. At that moment, Tails had returned from the ship with the tools needed to use the emerald recovery device on Blood. Cosmo walked up to him, looking as hopeful as he did.
“Hopefully this will do more than needed for her,” Tails said, sounding more confident than earlier. “Chopper should be happier knowing that this will help.”
Cosmo then began to grin and laugh, something that confused them all. She then told her love “I wouldn’t worry about him. He’s a little busy at the moment.”
The couple then walked back down to the room where Blood and Chopper were, finding the latter passed out in a chair with a blanket wrapped around him, and his head laying on a pillow on Blood’s bedside. He just grinned himself and set up the equipment as quietly as he could while Cosmo hooked it up to their dark Seedrian friend. When all was prepared, Tails placed the Chaos Emerald in the energy feeder to use its power to help restore Blood’s energy, and from this point, all that they could do was wait patiently and hope for the best. At the same time, it had been a long day and everyone could use a good rest, so the couple invited their guests to stay the night while they’d retire to their bedroom. As the two snuggled together into a nice sleep, they barely said a word as she rested herself onto him as she usually would, his tails wrapped around their bodies, and their hands held under the sheets. All they wanted right then and there was to be close, and calm, and try to rest as peacefully as possible without much worry, as they slept away towards the day ahead.
As the following day came, all started quiet at first, until a sleeping Chopper began to hear voices while dreaming, but little did he know that the voices were coming from a real source. He awoke to hand on his head and picked his head up off the bed, and what his eyes then saw was the hand of an awakening Blood, who smiled and said “How you slept like that is beyond me. Were you up all night?”
Throughout the house, a loud vocal sound was heard, but everyone who was there was still resting and couldn’t recognize it. Tails and Cosmo raced out of their bed, with Tails’s foot getting caught in the sheet and falling flat on his face as he was trying to get up. His beloved rushed out the door to find the others just waking up themselves and asked “What was that sound?”
“I have no idea,” replied Galaxina, “but I think it was a scream.”
“I thought it was more like a cry,” Amy said.
“But who could’ve… Blood!” Cosmo yelled, and ran back to the spare bedroom with the others quickly following, and Tails tailing from behind as he tried to recover his face from hitting the floor.
“Blood?” he murmured to himself, and quickly shook off whatever pain and found himself last in her bedroom. What he saw was everyone standing at her bedsides with her eyes halfway opened, and a very happy Chopper trying not to cry happily. He then said smiling with relief “You’re finally awake. We thought it wouldn’t happen anytime soon.”
“Guess I’m too stubborn to die then,” Blood replied with a smirk. “How long was I out?”
“Since you rescued everyone from Dark Oak’s cage. You were so exhausted you almost slipped into a coma,” Cosmo explained.
Cream then added “You were very lucky that we learned about what was wrong and how to cure you, and Chopper refused to leave you side for a second since we got back.”
The Seedrian looked over at the young chipmunk again, and patted her bed as a sign to get up on it. After doing so, he sat next to her for a moment, and then she held him around the arm and pulled him down to her for a hug, and for the first time in her life, she cried happily, and looked just as happy. “Told you we’d get out of there,” she whispered to him. “Thanks for looking out for me, little brother.”
Chopper, starting to let his emotions get the better of him, just hugged her back and felt the happiest he’s been since the whole adventure started. It was a touching moment, and after waiting long enough, Tails said “Alright, Chopper, now you know she’ll be alright, so let’s get you cleaned up and fed. Blood still needs some time to rest.”
The loud sound of a growling stomach was heard coming from the boy with ruffled fur and tired eyes. He felt so embarrassed at that moment that his face turned red and replied “Sure, Tails, whatever you say,” and the two walked out to the kitchen, leaving the ladies to have a small conversation of their own.
“My body feels like it came back from breaking apart. How did you keep me alive?” she asked, and Cosmo explained the device and Chaos Emerald next to her bed, clearly a success in recovering her. “Vlad was never smart enough to consider doing that. He makes that Drakken guy look brilliant.”
“You were very lucky, my young Seedrian, and for what you’ve proven yourself to be as the kind of person you are, you’re a proud symbol of your people,” Earthia said.
Blood turned towards the Seedrian leader to ask “My people? You mean the species that my existence is from?”
“No, Blood,” Cosmo told her, “your people, and our clan. You’re not something made in a lab, you’re another person like any of us, and my mother would like to…” Before continuing, a knock was heard coming from the front door that caught her attention. Turning back and thinking for a moment, she realized who it was and went to answer the door.
Tails and Chopper were just sitting down to eat some breakfast bagels with milk when the door knocked, so the heroic fox told his young friend “You go ahead and get started. Looks like our company is here earlier than we thought.” He then began getting up to get the door when Cosmo rushed in.
“Don’t worry, you two,” she told them, “I got it.” When she opened the door, expecting Kim and Ron, was actually Gohan, Danny, Sam and Tucker, much to both Cosmo and Tails’s surprise. “Oh, hello! Please come in.”
“Sorry for coming by unannounced, but Sam and Tucker wanted to come stop by and see Blood were doing,” Danny said. “How is she holding up?”
“She’s looking like she’ll be just fine,” Tails replied, and explained what happened last night and that morning, including how Kim and Ron were going to come by as well.
“Well that explains the surprised looks we got,” Tucker stated.
Sam then added “But it really means a lot to us that you all helped save our lives. Thanks, Tails, and Cosmo, and hopefully we’ll get to thank Blood, and Kim and Ron too.”
“I’m sure you will,” Chopper said enthusiastically.
The heroic fox then asked Gohan “So what brings you here this morning? I figured you’d be with your family or at Team JAG Headquarters right now.”
“Actually, that’s part of the reason why I’m here,” the warrior replied, and began to explain what his presence was about. Just as he finished, another knock came from the door, and after Chopper rushed up to open the door, found the heroic couple of Team Possible standing there to see them, bringing a round of breakfast Nacos to go around the group.
Meanwhile, Dr. Eggman and Dr. Drakken were a couple hours into their work at the laboratory they’ve worked together in at Team JAG Headquarters for months to find an antidote for the mutated Mobians. A whole room of imprisoned mutants waited for their completed work just down the corridor from there as the two scientists applied Vlad Plasmius’s data files to their already compiled research of his work. Even with meaningless debating and mistaken order of steps to create the needed antidote, along with some sarcastic sass from a bored Shego, the two had believed to have found the right formula to act as the cure, but there was only one way to prove it- test one of the boxed mutants. With his robots on hand, and a hedgehog for backup, Eggman ordered Decoe and Bocoe to open the side of one crate so that Drakken would override the inner ghost shield, and the two would give the creature the test, although they were far from comfortable with the idea.
“Why do we have to do it Doctor? What if we get torn apart?” asked a complaining Decoe.
Bocoe then added “I don’t want to be pulling fangs out of my back and chasing around for one of my legs.”
“Quit your whining, you oversized toolboxes!” snapped Eggman. “You’re not organic like me, or what were once those Mobians, so you’re the best ones to get near them and administer this.” He then handed them a syringe with a glowing green plasma, their concocted cure. “If this works out then we’ll start working on trying to turn this into a gas or spraying liquid for the rest, but until then, get in there and do the job, or I’ll go on a walk around this place and find two who can!”
“Yes Dr. Eggman,” the two robots sighed, and left to do as their creator commanded. A video projection appeared so that the two scientists and one henchwoman could watch the results of this experiment, but the latter of which didn’t show much care for the cause.
“I’ve got to say, Egghead, with a bossy attitude like what you have for tin cans, I’m sure your quest for that empire you want so much will be wonderful,” Shego said sarcastically, wanting a good laugh for herself.
“Now’s not the time for your lip, Shego, so quit it,” Drakken ordered, and focused on the screen. “If this is the answer to this mutant insanity then we’ll be almost done working with this giant group of good guys again and get back to our own agenda back home.” He then saw Eggman’s robots open a crate with a trapped mutant, so he used the lab’s computer system to remotely deactivate the wire-framed ghost shield inside the crate to set the creature free, and Decoe and Bocoe on frenzy.
The Doctor then said “You seem to have your priorities in order after this, Drakken. You really want to stay away from this whole world, inside all worlds, don’t you?”
“No,” the blue-skinned scientist replied, “I want to just go back to one world and only have to deal with one day-saving nemesis, and just one sidekick buffoon instead of worrying about an entire army of alien animals after me!”
“Well perhaps I can lend a suggestion towards your motives,” Eggman said back, “a strategy from the ingenious Dr. Eggman playbook. Perhaps with it you’ll go farther than being the same plant man that tried using flowers to stop an alien invasion.”
Before Drakken could argue back, or Shego adding another rude comment, they overheard a loud “GOT IT!” coming from the other room. Turning towards the screen, Decoe and Bocoe had managed to inject the syringe’s content into the creature’s back, with its mouth holding grasp on Bocoe’s back. The mutant jumped off and stepped back, and then started to act dizzy and weak-kneed until it dropped to the ground unconscious. This caused the two robots to start panicking, and the two doctors to be shocked.
“Way to go, you numbskulls! I think you just killed the thing rather than cure it! Way to take it out of its misery. I’m sure those Master Four freaks will really enjoy this,” Shego said, not pleased at all, but then, Drakken saw something.
“Wait, take a look at this!” he yelled, and zoomed in on the creature. The injected plasma seemed to have been taking effect as what was a monstrosity of a beast began turning into its original being- a Mobian, but to be more exact, a young female squirrel.
“It worked! The readings on that animal read it as a Mobian, not a mutant! We found the cure!” Eggman yelled out, and the two doctors began to celebrate their success with a few antics that others would just find annoying or plain stupid, but they didn’t care at the time. Their tireless work had finally paid off as the cure was found, and the damage done by Plasmius’s experimentations could finally be undone.
Before going any further with anything, Dr. Eggman told his colleague “Well, Drakken, it looks as if we should get started on a large batch of this formula to cure every mutant we have here. Get started on that, and have my robots assist you immediately.” He then turned to see a silent and solemn hedgehog standing in a corner, and told him “Listen, Shadow, I need you to go relay a message for me back on our planet. You should know where to start, and where to have them meet us.”
